We chose to support the HSN Foundation because we believe in giving back to the community that has supported us. Health Sciences North plays a vital role in caring for families across Northern Ontario, and their foundation helps provide the resources, equipment, and programs needed to make that care possible. By supporting the HSN Foundation, we’re helping to strengthen healthcare close to home, which something that touches us all.
We’ve experienced the importance of HSN’s care firsthand with our own loved ones, which makes this cause deeply personal. For us, it’s more than just a donation, it’s a way to say thank you to the hospital and healthcare teams who have been there for our dancers, our families, and our community when it mattered most.

With over 18 years of experience, I’ve grown up immersed in the world of dance, training extensively in a wide range of styles. My passion for dance has led me to not only perform, but also teach and choreograph for many years, sharing what I’ve learned while constantly evolving as both a choreographer and educator.Throughout my journey, I’ve attended numerous conventions and intensives, seeking out every opportunity to challenge myself and expand my knowledge in dance. These experiences have been pivotal in shaping my approach, allowing me to stay inspired and bring fresh perspectives to my work.
Still, I view myself as a lifelong student, committed to learning from dancers and choreographers from all walks of life, and continuously pushing myself to grow, create, and connect through dance.

Ashley Burton Rantala is a master dance educator with more than 20 years of experience in the industry. She has built a dynamic international career as a choreographer, adjudicator, and scholar, working across North America and Europe. Her work lives at the intersection of performance and pedagogy—where physicality meets purpose, and where dance is treated not just as a craft, but as a language of inquiry and connection.Ashley brings a rare combination of artistic mastery and academic rigor to her teaching pedagogy. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance Education and Performance, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from York University, and a Bachelor of Education—credentials that ground her work in both technical expertise and critical thought. Her classrooms are spaces where theory meets movement, where students are challenged to engage intellectually with their bodies, and where dance is as much about exploration as it is about execution.
